Problems encountered

For this project, we came across some electrical wiring issues. Over time, it is natural for electrical wiring to be susceptible to things like loose connections, corrosions and oxidations. Aside from that, some pests on the roof such as the rats can also do damage by chewing on the wiring. These kinds of wiring issues usually do not trigger any alarms on PV systems and it was left unattended and could cause bigger problems on the whole PV system. 

How do we solve it?

During our annual maintenance schedule, we are going to check on the electrical cable during system checking & maintenance. It is important we tighten again all the cable terminations, especially the DC cables. We ought to check for any loose MC4 connectors and conduct insulation tests for both AC & DC cables if required. This is to ensure that no earth leakage on the cables.

The rectification process will maximize the whole system output generation and increase the system lifetimes. It also helps reduce the system downtime by doing the prevention and cautionary exercises.
